Slate x The Handbasket: Top MAGA 'voter fraud' watchdog votes in PA. Records show he doesn’t live there.
The peculiar tale of Jack Posobiec.
I have a brand new scoop up on Slate about Jack Posobiec, the influential MAGA personality and prominent conspiracy theorist best known for amplifying “Pizzagate.” It’s about how public records, such as FEC political contribution filings, appear to show that this leading voice against voter fraud has been living in Maryland but voting in Pennsylvania for years, using his parents’ address in the swing state. If the story the records tell is accurate, experts say he would be violating voting laws. Ironic.
The piece was co-written and reported with the amazing Jacqueline Sweet, an investigative journalist whose byline you’ve seen a number of times now on The Handbasket, and edited by Slate’s Patrick Reis.
When Reis reached out over the summer about potentially working together, I was intrigued. Combining Slate’s decades of impactful journalism with The Handbasket’s independent spirit was an exciting idea to us both—so we decided to give it a shot. The result is this first foray into an occasional partnership that we believe combines the best of both our worlds.
The three of us hope you’ll give the story a read.
